Feral Interactive announced today that the third-person adventure game Tomb Raider will be coming to the Mac later this year after making its debut on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 months ago. Tomb Raider is part of a long line of adventure games starring Lara Croft, but the 2013 release is an official series restart.

Tomb Raider begins with Lara shipwrecked on the lost island of Yamatai where she must survive being pursued by a savage cult. She must also survive the harsh wilderness of the island, ranging from untouched forests to ancient Japanese temples and abandoned World War  II bunkers. Lara will also have to learn new skills, salvage resources, and upgrade her kit and weapons to uncover Yamatai’s long-buried secrets.

“We all know Lara Croft as a coolly self-assured adventurer, but she wasn’t always that way,” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “Tomb Raider does an amazing job of tracing the character’s evolution from amateur explorer to battle-hardened survivor. It’s a tense, but intensely exhilarating journey.”

“We’re excited to bring Tomb Raider to the Mac, and in doing so introduce a new audience to Lara Croft’s original story,” said Darrell Gallagher, Head of Product Development and Studios at Square Enix. “This is one more step on the road to achieving everything we wanted with the game.”

So far no solid release date has been set, as well as system requirements, multiplayer details and pricing. Feral Interactive mentioned that all would be revealed as it gets closer to the release date. Below is a trailer of the announcement:
