Bohemia Interactive has released the anticipated Deimos content update for Take On Mars. It features two new locations and a Zero-G Probe vehicle.

The update takes players to Deimos, one of the moons of Mars, where they can explore three massive craters. The other location is an asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

The update also implements new features such as dynamic mission generation and a spectacular new weather system.

Martin Melicharek, Project Lead on Take On Mars, elaborates:

“The new locations let you experience movement in a zero gravity environment, adding a new dimension to Take On Mars’ already vast aspect of robotic vehicle simulation. This also gives you the opportunity to witness an amazing ballet of asteroids in the Asteroid Belt location. Fellow space enthusiasts will also be excited to learn that the Martian weather systems are also newly present in the game, affecting your vehicles in a realistic manner. All in all, while the real Mars Curiosity keeps making discoveries, Take On Mars keeps pushing forward, improving accordingly with the great feedback we have been receiving from fellow players.”

The Zero-G Probe is a remote vehicle designed for zero-gravity environments. It’s much better suited for Deimos’ gravitational pull of -0.0039m/s^2 than regular Rovers and Landers.

Additionally, the new Dynamic Mission Generation feature dynamically creates photo, exploration and analysis tasks around the player’s location. New Mars weather conditions include sandstorms and strong winds that yield great visual effects and additional gameplay depth.

Take On Mars was officially announced at E3 2013 and won IGN’s Best New PC Game award.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal.
