THE 2003 E3 JUST ADVENTURE AWARDS! Presented |

NANCY DREW: THE HAUNTED CAROUSEL
Developer: Her
Interactive
Publisher: Atari
Platform: Windows
Projected Release Date: Summer 2003
One would
think this would be a relatively benign category, but it was actually
a ferocious struggle between Riverdeeps new Scooby Doo adventure,
Disneys Haunted Mansion and Nancy Drews The Haunted Carousel. In the end though, Nancys
wiles and longevity won the day.
Despite
the fact that not one computer gaming magazine and very few webzines
review the Nancy Drew products, this young ladys seven games have
to-date combined to sell over 1 million copies. Much of the credit
must go to her mother Megan Gaiser, the hard-working and devoted
head of Her Interactive. Her dedication and vision to bring quality
adventure products to children and young teens is to be commended.
Every
Nancy Drew offering updates its technology to keep the series fresh,
but still manages to maintain that old-fashioned, locked room mystery
atmosphere. Each game is a self-contained story that can be played
independently of the others, but taken as a whole; this is a classic
series that is long overdue for recognition from the adventure community.
Oh, and
if youve read this far we have a little scoop for you, the next Nancy
Drew game will be titled Danger on Deception Island and a little
birdie tells us that Just Adventure may make a guest appearance!
