Manhunter: New York Walkthrough by Rob Tegne
INTRODUCTION
I found this game to be one of the more difficult ones by Sierra
and have found many people stuck on it. I hope this walkthrough will
help you to get unstuck or help you finish the game. Have fun!! Tegne
Day 1
Day 1 begins with an Orb
telling you to investigate the explosion at the Bellevue Hospital.
After watching MAD go to the Hospital. Examine the tag on the
human’s
toe. Reno Davis. Don’t look too long at the mess the baby Orbs
are making. Notice the robot guard blocking the entrance to the
hallway.
Don’t bother going to Trinity Church yet, but go to the Flatbush
Bar. Start playing the video arcade game… When you have finished
playing with knives, return to the video arcade game and resume
play. (In the Manhunter package there should be a map of this
maze, if
not, you will need to draw this map from the arcade game). Go
through the maze the shortest way possible. Notice the direction
and where
the balls strike the dolls. Now go to Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
Enter the female toilets and go to the third/end toilet to the
right. Sit
down and flush/pull the handle three times. Enjoy the ride? This
is where the map of the maze comes in handy. The blocks you stood
on in the video arcade game represent keycards. You need to collect
all twelve of them. You will come out in a cave at Drier Offerman
Park. Get the Medallion on the pier. Go to Coney Island, not
far from the cave. Play the Kwepie Dolls just like in the video
arcade
game, ie. same direction and position, twice in-a-row without
error. Show the Medallion to the man and he’ll give you a Data
Card. Use
the Data Card in MAD. Notice the name Phil. When prompted for
a name, enter Reno Davis.
Day 2
An Orb tells you to investigate
the break-in at the Grand Central Terminal. When you are looking
at your MAD you
need to tag each of the three targets to see where they go and
what they do. Tagging is explained in the manual. Now follow the
target
that goes to the Vend-o-Deli. Have a good look around. Examine
the names on the notice board. Harvey.
Now go to the Wretched Express Nightclub. You will have to enter
the club from the left through the gangsters. Watch the fourth gangste’s
arm carefully. Once you are inside the nightclub I suggest you save
the game if you do not want to go through all the trouble of getting
inside again. You need to locate the person you tagged in MAD earlier
on that came here. The person is a woman and she is on the left half
of the group. Once you have located her, show her the Medallion.
After being thrown out of the crowd, grab the keycard that drops
next to you before getting kicked out the club. Now go to Central
Park. Here you need to examine MAD to see how the target gets through
the park and how you are going to get through the park. Here is a
guideline: 1st screen – go three places up from the far right-hand
corner 2nd screen – go two places left of the bridge 3rd screen –
go four places up from the far right-hand corner 4th screen – go
two places right from the right (between two bushes) 5th screen –
go two places left from the left (between two trees) 6th screen –
go four places up from the far left-hand corner Get the crowbar and
return to the fifth screen.
5th screen – go three
places left from the left-hand side 7th screen – go four places
up from the far right-hand corner 8th screen – go
two places left from the left-hand side You should now be standing
in front of a dead body and a rock with some letters written in blood
on it. examine the papers next to the body – Anna and H. Osborne.
Notice the letter "P" carved on the face of the man. Now
use MAD and type in the names Anna or Harvey Osborne and Phil Cook.
Their addresses will now be located and accessible. Now go to 150
West 82nd and get the key out of the box, have a look at poor dead
Anna and then go to the American Museum. Before unlocking and entering
the museum you should examine the target that went in here and the
directions he took. (Map the museum and directions he took if you
do not have the map from the original package). Enter the building
and follow the path Phil took. You will end up using all thirteen
keycards so don’t take a wrong turn. Eventually you will come to
a heavy door locked securely. Use the crowbar… what’s this? …some
sort of monster will come charging at you, before it grabs you show
it the Medallion.
The monster seeing the Medallion kindly opens the door for you.
Thank it and enter the laboratory room. Examine the picture on the
wall …some sort of room, get Module B and examine the freshly made
tattoo very carefully. Notice the position of the three different
coloured dots. Once you are finished here, go home. When prompted
for some names, enter the names you know, Reno Davis, Harvey/Anna
Osborne and Phil Cook or Phil Cook three times.
Day 3
Investigate the dead Orb
at Greenwood Cemetry. Notice the name "Jones" on the tombstone. Now go to Trinity
Church. Remember the tattoo on the arm of the dead body at the end
of Day 2, well it’s the combination to the candles. Go to the left-hand
side and light the candles exactly like the tattoo. A safe will open
revealing Module A and some drawings. Take Module A and remember
the drawings. Go to Abduls Pawn shop. Choose the three correct badges,
the third one is the cross if you haven’t yet worked it out. A trap
door will open and you will fall into some underground tunnel. Read
the sign above the door and do what it tells you to do. Having trouble?
The 1st answer is 41, the 2nd is 1031, 3rd is 264, and the fourth
is 425. Once you are through, examine the body lieing on the floor.
Notice the name "Harry" on the collar and the initial "P".
When you have finished fighting, grab the note Phil dropped. No need
to remember the number 843769, MAD will do that for you. Now go to
the Theater in Times Square. Remove the picture and enter the number
(843769) MAD recorded from the note. Take the note from the safe.
MAD will remember "UCUCC" for you. Use MAD and enter the
name "Harry Jones". Now go to his house at 21 Pearl Street.
Enter the house. Remember the picture on the wall in the museum,
well it’s a drawing of this room. Go to the radio and open it with
the crowbar. Get Module C. Then go to the Empire State Building.
Switch on the computer and enter the password "UCUCC".
Remember the guard in the Bellevue Hospital, well you need to get
rid of him. So go to Alpha, choose security and change to hallway
patrol. then go to Delta, change the security and turn the transmitter
to on. Go home.
Day 4
Investigate the break-in
at the Empire State Building. While watching MAD you will come
to a point when it tells
you to do a manual track. Do as the instructions tell you or refer
to your manual on page 6. After watching MAD you realize that it
was you at the computer terminal.
Now go to the hospital and enter the room where Reno Davis is.
Notice the guard robot is missing. Enter the hallway. Once you have
been captured and thrown into a room, go to the air vent and remove
it with the crowbar. Look closely at what they are doing. Wait until
they are finished. Enter and take Module D. To get out you have to
start the conveyor belt and get on it. Push the handle upwards, climb
the ladder and you end up in another room to the west. To get out
of here you have to climb the ropes/poles until you reach the window
in the top left-hand corner. Make sure you climb the middle rope/pole
when near the window. When you have picked yourself up from the floor,
go to the Grand Central Terminal. Enter the building using your crowbar.
You now have to fly the ship. Enter the ship. Insert all the Modules
A to D. Slide the switch marked CN. Push the middle button. Push
the button to the right. Push the left button. Guide the ship through
the entrance to the right. You must now manoeuver the ship through
the tunnel maze. Work it out yourself! Once you are out and back
in the cockpit of the ship, slide the switch marked NU, it’s for
arming the bombs. Then push the button just under the small screen.
Look at the screen. You now have to drop bombs on the main buildings
the Orbs are operating in. If you haven’t yet worked them out they
are: the Bellevue Hospital, the Empire State Building, Grand Central
Terminal and the Statue of Liberty. Refer to the map in the package
if you are not sure where they are. There is no specific order, but
beware of Phil Cook.
See you in San Francisco
(MANHUNTER 2).
