Lost Gate (Little Missionary) Episode 1 Walkthrough

by Alexander Tait 19 sections about 6 minutes to read

The
Lost Gate (Little Missionary) is episode one of an undisclosed number (likely
two) of adventure game episodes with a twofold purpose. On one level, the
game is a child-friendly title to entertain. On another, the story makes
allusions to Christian beliefs found in the New Testament. Dom Rodzinny
Fundacia is a ministry based in Poland that includes amongst its roles as
attempting to make the lives of Poland’s thirty thousand orphans better
(see www.fdr.jezus.pl for more details).
As such, the game is released free to the public but ask that those who
can make a donation to their cause. The game uses the AdventureMaker engine
and is simply stunning with its vibrant use of color. The music is all original
and has the cartoon quality that children enjoy. The storyline is certainly
nothing new but children are likely to be entranced by the colors and characters.
Appropriately, the protagonist is an orphan. Adults, too, can enjoy it-I
certainly did and look forward to episode two. Anyone familiar with other
AdventureMaker games will feel at home instantly with the interface.

They have requested that anyone interested
in making a donation or with helping out in the making of episode two
contact them on or .

Introduction

My
name’s David. I’m eight. I’ve lived
in this orphanage all my life. My best friend, Steve, has been asked
to stay with a family for the holidays. He knew I was upset when he told
me he was going but he told me there was a surprise in his room. That’s
where story started…

Steve’s Room

In
Steve’s room I found a red book on
his bookshelf. There was a wooden ball under his bed. I took both
of these with me. On his closet door there was a note that said, “King
of Kings, Lord of Lords”. I opened the closet and there was a joystick
on the wall next to a spyhole! I looked through the spyhole and there
was a keypad! I noticed that if I pressed certain buttons in sequence
they stayed lit and after every four a light lit up one of the yellow
lights.

The large light started blinking so I
pushed it and the back of the closet opened into a passage. I followed
it to a computer room.

Secret Computer Room

The
computer wasn’t working so I looked
around. I found a smiley, which I took with me. I found another
switch on a machine in the front of the room that turned something on
but needed a password. It didn’t take long. The minister had been here
only yesterday to tell us about Jesus. I went over to the computer,
which was working now. Suddenly, I felt strange. I was sucked into the
computer and then to a strange land.

Path in the Land inside the Computer

I
was in a strange world with mushroom like trees. I backed away but
couldn’t go anywhere else. I picked up
a shovel that was lying around. I went back to where I first came
into this world. I dug up a chest at the base of one of the mushroom
trees but it was locked. Then I saw the sign that said “David’s house”.
Wow! I had a house. I followed the path to the house.

David’s House

The house was locked so I had a look for
some way to get in. In a barrel next to the house I found another two
smileys
. I found a rock behind the barrel. I threw the rock at
the light above the door and took the gold key hidden in it. This
wasn’t the right key. I thought for a minutes and then remembered the chest.
I went back to the chest on the path.

Path

The gold key fit perfectly in the
chest. Inside the chest were three holes that would fit the smileys perfectly.
I put the smileys in and there was a blue key. I headed
back to the house.

David’s House

The door unlocked with a click when I
put the blue key in the lock. There wasn’t much in the house.
On a table was a cute little mouse. It started talking! It was hungry.
I told it that I would find it some food. Under the table I found a map,
a metal ball and a glass ball. In the closet I found a
strange machine that looked like plumbing in the bathroom back at the
orphanage. I worked out that the wooden ball went at the top.
The metal ball was a bit lower on the right and the glass ball went
down the bottom.

A
chest in the corner rose up and there was a passage to the cellar!
I went down…

Cellar

The cellar was huge. There were racks
of wine, a huge fridge, and a lectern thing in front of a metallic circle
like a science fiction doorway. I got some cheese out of the fridge
and went up to the lectern. The lectern had a gold key and a note on
it. The note told a story of the Lost Gate. This had to be it! Had I
been here before? The Lost Gate was broken a long time ago. Two of the
pieces were with the scoundrel Bonifacy. The note said the Lost Gate
would bring great power. It warned not to feed the horse. What did that
mean? I walked up to the Lost Gate and collected a piece of the key.
It looked like a puzzle piece. I went back upstairs.

David’s House

The mouse hungrily ate the cheese when
I gave it to him. He told me to go to the town. I freed him from the
cage with the gold key and we walked to the path.

Path

We followed the path into town using the map.

Town

The town was full of strange, pointed, colorful houses.
All three I tried were locked. I walked to the left and went in a house
with three round windows.

Three Window House

On either side of a long corridor, there were colorful
pictures. At the end of the corridor, we went through a door into a library.

Library

There were
tons of books here. A large table was in the middle and had paper and
a lamp on it. I noticed a gap on the bookshelf
just before the “K-M” section and put the book back on the shelf.

With a rumbling sound, the bookshelf moved
and behind a wall was a secret room! We went in.

Secret Room

At first I
only thought there was a column in the room. We looked around and found
a machine behind it. I put the mouse in the
hole at the bottom of the machine and had a look inside. I pulled a switch
and the column rotated. Inside the column was a computer but it didn’t
have a disk. We looked everywhere but couldn’t find it. We went back to
entrance to town.

Entrance of Town

There were people in the town! The two
men were brothers. I spoke with them and they started to believe my story.
I showed them the piece of the key. He knew then that I was telling
the truth and gave me the disk for the computer in the secret
room. We went back to the secret room.

Secret Room

We put the disk in
the computer but it wouldn’t work because it needed the sun! Remembering
I had seen a sun before, we walked back to the corridor outside the
library.

Corridor

The second colorful painting on the left side had a
sun in it. I touched the sun and I heard something happen in the distance.
We went back to the secret room.

Secret Room

The computer
was working when we got back to it. The file told the story of the Lost
Gate and mentioned Bonifacy’s change from
priest to greedy man.

I’ll
leave my story here. There is more to be told but that will come in
the next part of my story…
