Baron Wittard: Nemesis of Ragnarok Walkthrough, part 6 of 6

part 6 of 6 4 sections about 4 minutes to read

Wittard’s Living Room Chess Puzzle

  • This is a classic puzzle known as The Traveling Knight.
  • The object is to move the knight such that it lands on every
    square once and only once.
  • In chess, the knight moves in an “L” pattern –
two squares out and one square to the side.
  • The following strategy works well.
  • Imagine that the board is made of two tracks – an outer
track two squares wide and an inner track two squares wide. The
knight is starting in the outer track.
  • Always move the knight in an anticlockwise direction. Never
    move the knight backwards.
  • Keep the knight in the outer track for as long as you can (about
    two circuits).
  • When there are no more available moves in the outer track, jump
into the inner track, but only in a forward direction.
  • As soon as you can, jump back into the outer track, but only
if you can do so by moving forward.
  • If you cannot get back to the outer track, then continue on
the inner track until you can.

  • The mysterious switch in the corner is now active. Use it to
open the secret panel and place the Rune Stone Algiz inside.

Wittard’s Office Genealogy Chart

Hints

  • Susan is identified in the encrypted note in the Viking Museum
    Gift Shop.
  • The note in the Security office gives the relative locations
of Matthew and Jeff as well as whether M/F goes to the left or
    right.
  • Aaron’s note in the Observatory identifies Sophie, William,
    Emma and Sarah.
  • Letter on chess table in Wittard’s Living Room identifies
Caroline, Sophie, Jeff, Anita and Arnold.
  • Wittard’s diary identifies Roger.
  • Wittard has both great-grandparents and a sister, so he and
his sister must go in the two bottom right slots.

Inner Garden Mezzanine Slider

Hints

  • This is a Rune Stone Dissolution Puzzle. You must insert the
correct Rune Stone in order to start.
  • The clue to this puzzle is in Wittard’s Diary in his office.
  • Sliders are the easiest puzzles on earth, once you know the
    secret.
  • First, figure out where the gap will end up when the puzzle
is solved (usually one of the corners). The corners are easy to
identify in this image. Which one is missing?
  • Start with the row farthest from the gap’s ending location.
Then work your way one row at a time towards the gap.
  • The last two rows can be solved one column at a time.
  • It doesn’t matter what you do with the rest of the puzzle,
but once a row is completed you must never touch it again.

Solution

  • Insert the Rune Stone Ansuz into the puzzle.
  • Remember those dots around the image in the Diary? They represent
the mushrooms around the puzzle. Click on the dot-with-a-ring
and the puzzle is instantly solved. Cheater!
  • A row can be solved in either direction. We will do it right-to-left.
  • The final resting place of the gap is in the upper left hand
corner, so we will start with the bottom row.
  • Number the positions left-to-right, top-to-bottom 1-25. The
bottom row is now numbered 21-25.
  • Locate the piece which goes in location 25 and move it to position
    21.
  • Locate the piece which goes in position 24 and move it to position
    16, just above piece 25.
  • Finally, move 25 to the right and 24 down. The following pictures
    show what we just did.
  • Now simply repeat the above process with pieces 23, 22 and 21
and you have completed the bottom row.
  • Next, complete row 16-20.
  • Next, complete row 11-15.
  • Two rows are too cramped to move around in, so we switch to
    columns.
  • Move piece 5 to position 10 and piece 10 to position 9.
  • Move 5 up and 10 over. That solves those. Repeat for 4-9 and
    3-8.
  • Finally, you just move the last three pieces into position.
    DONE!

Information Desk Safe

Hints

  • The solution is to set each symbol to the total count of that
    symbol throughout Utopia.
  • You must have visited every location to inspect for symbols.
  • Unfortunately, there is no way to tell you which ones you may
have missed without just giving you the solution. But, you can
    check:
    • The Table of Contents above and verify that you have been
      to every location.
    • The locations above one at a time to see what you might have
      missed.

Solution

  • (12) Green Crosses
  • (1) Blue Diamond
  • (12) Yellow Squares
  • (6) Red Eyes
  • Insert Rune Stone Othila

Amulet Puzzle

Hints

  • Fenrir is free of his chains! Ragnarok is upon us! So quickly
solve this puzzle which might take you two days to complete. We’ll
    wait.
  • The object of this puzzle is to move the large green square
straight down into the green area.
  • The entire strategy revolves around getting the two horizontal
rectangles over, around and above the green square. Once you have
done that you are home free.
  • There are several solutions. The following is one of them.

Solution

  • Number all the positions from left to right and from top to
    bottom. So the top row is 1 – 2 – 3 – 4.
  • Move the following squares from position to position:
    • 17-19 13-17 15-13 10-14 12-11 11-10 16-11 4-12 2-3 1-2
    • 9-1 13-5 10-9 14-13 11-10 12-11 20-12 19-16 17-19 13-17
    • 12-11 11-15 3-7 2-4 1-3 5-1 6-2 9-5 10-6 17-13
    • 19-17 15-19 16-20 7-11 3-7 4-8 2-4 1-3 5-1 6-2
    • 13-9 17-13 19-17 20-18 11-15 9-11 13-9 17-13 18-17 15-14

Don’t forget to save the game here so you can see both endings.
