The player controls both Wallace and Gromit, but cannot switch freely between them. The story determines which character is controllable, with Gromit as the main focus this time.

Only a short section near the end has the player solving puzzles with Wallace. The game remains a point-and-click adventure, with optimized controls for both PC and consoles.

Item interaction still uses a context-sensitive cursor, but characters are moved directly instead of being given move-to orders. The player explores locations, talks to people, and collects items to solve riddles and advance the story.
