Set in 1986, nearly twenty years before the events of Fables, the story follows a world where many magical lands known as the Homelands have been occupied by an enigmatic tyrant called the Adversary.

To escape the Adversary’s regime, many inhabitants fled to colonial America and formed Fabletown, now located in modern-day Manhattan. To hide from humans, non-human fables must buy an enchantment called a glamour to appear human, or be sent to a rural community known as The Farm.

Players take on the role of Bigby Wolf, Sheriff of Fabletown, in a city described as bloody, terrifying, and dangerous. The game uses an evolution of Telltale’s choice and consequence mechanics.
