In Kensington in 1886, 500 years after Sir Daniel Fortesque’s battle against Zarok, Lord Palethorn finds Zarok’s spellbook and casts its spell over London. The pages soon scatter across the city, and Palethorn takes on a demonlike appearance. The spell also brings Sir Dan back to life at a nearby museum.

He is recruited by Professor Hamilton Kift and his ghostly sidekick Winston to recover the missing pages and stop Palethorn. Along the way, they are joined by Kiya, an ancient mummy princess who becomes Dan’s love interest.

After Kiya is killed by Jack the Ripper, Dan discovers a time machine and travels back to save her, merging with his past self to gain golden armour. He later confronts Palethorn, turns a large blue demon against him, and ends the threat. In the ending, Dan and Kiya return to eternal rest, or, if all the Chalices have been collected, they ride the time machine to Zarok’s arena.
