Jak and Daxter travel by speedboat to Misty Island, an area they are not supposed to enter. After arriving, Daxter begins to doubt leaving the village, and the two watch lurkers gathered around Gol and Maia as they order them to deal harshly with anyone who strays from the village and to search for precursor artifacts and eco near Sandover Village.

They continue exploring the island until Daxter trips over a dark eco canister and tosses it to Jak. When a bone armor lurker confronts them, Jak throws the canister at it, killing it, but the impact sends Daxter into a dark eco silo behind him.

When Daxter emerges, he has been transformed into an ottsel. Realizing what has happened, he panics.
