The game begins three years after the events of “Hail to the King.” Ash Williams tells an Asian man the story of his battles with the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, then begins explaining how he ended up with him through a series of flashbacks.

In Dearborn, Michigan, a live episode of Mysteries of the Occult airs at the local KLA2 television station. Trisha Pettywood hosts the show with Professor Alex Eldridge, while Ash drinks at his favorite bar in the red-light district and insults Eldridge from across the room.

Trisha mentions a local Dearborn man who claims the Necronomicon can raise the dead and travel through time. Eldridge dismisses the claims, but when Trisha plays Professor Knowby’s tape recording live, the Deadites are released again and the Evil Force enters the bar, possessing the bartender before Ash shoots him down.
