Rufus is ill-tempered and convinced of his own greatness. He lives at the edge of a small settlement in a remote sector of the garbage-covered planet Deponia, and dreams of a better life in the floating cities above the surface.

When Goal falls from those privileged spheres into a nearby trash heap, Rufus sees a chance. He decides to bring the unconscious woman back to her home, first hoping only for a way off Deponia.

He soon develops an unscrupulous plan after learning that he looks like Goal’s upper-class husband. What begins as a handover turns into a chase across Deponia filled with twists, turns, and mix-ups.
