Get Lost in Space as Take on Mars Space Sim Hits Early Access – February 27, 2015

The space exploration game Take on Mars features a variety of real-life locations such as Victoria Crater and Cydonia based on actual satellite data. Each object, system and instrument is accurately simulated to offer a truly authentic experience.

As astronaut Mark Willis, you’ll take part in the first manned mission to the Red Planet. During your descent to the planet’s surface, something goes wrong; your connection to Earth is lost and can’t be re-established, the crew is declared MIA and there is just one survivor: you.

Your first priority is to survive. Engage in activities such as managing resources, finding adequate shelter from Mars’ sandstorms, extracting raw materials from the Martian soil and refining them into compounds.

In addition to the single-player Manned Mission campaign, Take On Mars features a “robotics” chapter in the Space Program campaign. Here, you’ll explore the Red Planet from the perspective of a science-driven space agency.

Further, the game includes individual scenarios that span a variety of additional locations and celestial bodies, including Mars’ moon Deimos, Earth’s Moon (Apollo 17 Moon landing site), the International Space Station (with full interior), Mars Yard and more.

Sandbox multiplayer mode allows you to experience the game with other players.

Five training missions are available to help players familiarize themselves with Take On Mars’ gameplay. For those who want to learn more about Mars, there’s an in-game Encyclopedia full of interesting facts about the Red Planet. Take On Mars also features content creation tools and modding support, enabling players to share their work with other players via the Steam Workshop.

If you just can’t wait, the Early Access version of Take On Mars remains available on Steam and the Bohemia Store. The game’s official release date is February 9th for Windows.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
