This retro-futuristic action-adventure from Double Fine/Adult Swim Games is described as "the ultimate head trip"

Platform:

Step into a retro-futuristic, side-scrolling, action-adventure game world inspired by the science fiction of the ’70s. Become the last known human — or more accurately, the last known human head — in the universe. That’s right; you don’t have a body.

Your world is an automated utopia gone wrong. Human bodies have been replaced by robotic ones into which human minds are transferred. The whole affair is ruled by a deranged computer.

You may just be a head, but you need to discover clues to your fractured past. Fortunately, you have a special helmet that enables you to dock into robotic hosts and commandeer them.

Launch from one body to another and learn that, as is often the case, things aren’t quite what they seem. The fate of humanity has not yet been decided.

Also releasing today is the Headlander OST by David Gregory Earl, created using tape and analog synthesizers to deliver a distinctive ’70s sci-fi soundscape. Have a listen:

Headlander, from Double Fine/Adult Swim Games, is now available on Steam  (Windows) and the Playstation site (PS4)

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
