Rogues Like Us, from indie developer oddByte, is a 3D hack’n’slasher in which you become a rogue and fight your way out of exile. Okay now…why is JA covering it?

Well, the level designer at oddByte is none other than Kyle Brown, who writes for us! The least we could do is give him, the rest of the dev team and their game a little ink.

Rogues Like Us actually started as student project and was released last December as Dungeoneers. It was very well received, and a decision was made to continue development of the game as a full-fledged project.

As mentioned, you play a rogue in exile. You’ve been ejected from your clan and sent to a remote island. But you do have one chance to redeem yourself: find the source of the power wielded by the clan and fight through dungeons in order to carry it back home.

Rogues Like Us features procedurally-generated dungeons; weapons that can be fed from the enemies you slay; dormant weapons and armor blueprints you can awaken; and secrets to find and explore.

The game’s Kickstarter campaign, with a base goal of $11,200 and currenly 31% funded, will run until June 12th. Please consider giving it your backing. And don’t forget to upvote the game on Greenlight.

If all goes well, Rogues Like Us will be released this Fall on Windows and Mac.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
