Samorost 3 Has Been Launched!

From Amanita Design, who brought us Machinarium and Botanicula, comes a point-and-click adventure that "loosely continues the stories established in Samorost (2003) and Samorost 2 (2005)"

The wait is finally over. We can now join our little space gnome as he finds a strange magical flute that’s fallen from the sky, and uses its powers to travel the cosmos in search of his origins. He’ll be visiting five planets and four moons in the process, and have many clever mysteries to solve along the way.

Visually, Samorost 3 draws a balance between stylishly bizarre and believable. The game’s abstract and expressive sound design, from Tomáš “Floex” Dvorák, frequently plays a key role alongside environmental clues in the game’s puzzles and mini-games.

Samorost creator and Amanita Design founder Jakub Dvorský: Samorost 3 is by far our biggest, most ambitious project to date. Our goal was to create something playful yet dense, blending the challenging logic puzzles of Machinarium with the more relaxed gameplay and tone of Botanicula. We think it offers something that both longtime fans of the series and newcomers will be able to enjoy.

Samorost 3 is available for Windows and Mac and can be yours right now through Steam, GOG.com, Humble Store, the Mac App Store and the game’s official website. Samorost 3 Cosmic Edition, which includes the full game, a 90-minute original soundtrack and a 170-page digital art book featuring design drawings from creator Jakub Dvorský is available everywhere except the Mac App Store.

The game is expected to launch on iOS and Android devices later this year.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
