The Solus Project is Announced June 17, 2016

The Solus Project is a first-person survival adventure in which you’re the only survivor of a catastrophic landing on a harsh, uncharted planet. Your equipment has been destroyed. Debris from your ship is scattered across the environment. Unable to communicate with Earth, you are absolutely alone.

As you explore the game’s 10 handcrafted levels, you’ll encounter evidence of a previous civilization and solve environmental puzzles that have been left behind. You’ll uncover many secrets.

You must survive an extreme, dynamically-generated climate that includes violent storms, tornadoes and lightning. You’ll experience day/night cycles that affect the planet’s ocean tides and vegetation. You’ll endure earthquakes.

Rather than feature an open-world sandbox environment, The Solus Project will employ a linear, story-driven approach. Your adventure will have a beginning and end. However, one mistake could cost you your life.

The game will offer very little in the way of hand-holding. Your only enemy will be the environment. There will be no combat. It will just be you — solitary, isolated, and stranded on an alien planet.

From developers Sjoerd “Hourences” De Jong/Grip Games and publisher Teotl Studios, The Solus Project is set for release on PC (Steam Early Access) and Xbox One Preview Program in February 2016. A final release is slated for Q2 2016.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
