In Kim, from indie developer The Secret Games, you’ll play your own version of Rudyard Kipling’s classic adventure (also called Kim). Gameplay will include branching narratives, stealth, combat and survival. No two playthroughs will be the same, greatly enhancing replay value.
You’ll experience India in the 1880s, where you’ll find a vast open world to explore. As you play, Kim’s strength, dexterity, stealth, speed and intelligence will improve. He’ll also develop relationships with characters from Rudyard Kipling’s book.
Kim will have objectives to complete; he’ll also collect items and garner favor with the spies of the secret service. He can’t die, but when his health hits zero he’ll collapse and must spend time recuperating. Time is crucial; when Kim turns 18 and the period of the book is over, so is your playthrough.
Jeremy Hogan, Director, The Secret Games Company: We set out to make a game that lets you enjoy Nobel Prize winning writing and explore a fascinating setting, which still divides opinion over a century later. Colonial India’s hand-painted towns and procedurally generated countryside hold adventures, secrets and treasure to be discovered and no one playthrough will grant them all!
Kim has been Greenlit, and a Kickstarter campaign with a base goal of $3,258 USD (£5,000) is in progress until February 16, 2016. The game will be released on Windows/PC and Mac, with Linux to follow during Early Access. A final version will be launched later in 2016.
If Kim looks interesting to you, please consider giving it your backing.
