Day of the Tentacle Remastered To Surface in Early 2016
Will feature new hand-drawn, high-res artwork with remastered audio, music and sound effects
Day of the Tentacle, a cartoon puzzle adventure featuring three unlikely friends battling an evil mutated purple tentacle as it tries to take over the world, was originally released by LucasArts in 1993. It was also Tim Schafer’s first game as co-project lead.
That was 22 years ago. Yikes.
And now, Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition from Double Fine Productions, with all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, as well as remastered audio, music and sound effects.
Players will be able to switch between classic and remastered modes; audio, graphics and user interface will be mixable-and-matchable. The game will include a concept art browser and a commentary track with the game’s original creators Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian.
Day of the Tentacle Remastered Edition has been restored and remade with loving care and attention. It’s set to be released in early 2016 on PC/Windows, Mac, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
