Empyrion – Galactic Survival is Given Improved Planetary Approach/Atmospheric Entry and More Creatures – April 23, 2015
Arachnophobe Alert: There be some spidery-looking beasties here, but they’re not bad.

In 2402, a wrecked starship — apparently belonging to a technologically-advanced alien civilization — is discovered beneath the ice of Antarctica. A star map is also recovered that reflects symbols similar those describing Empyrion — the land of plenty — and points to a location in the Andromeda galaxy.

Meanwhile, the situation on Earth has become dire (overpopulation, depletion of natural resources, drought, famine, etc). A decision is made to build a fleet of ships using the alien technology, and mount an expedition to contact the alien civilization and locate Empyrion.

In 2473, the fleet is ready. You’re in command of the frigate Helios. Unfortunately, your hyperdrive malfunctions and throws you way off course. You lose contact with the rest of the fleet and crash land on a hostile planet. You are the only survivor. You must find a way to escape.

Empyrion features single-player, multiplyer and co-op modes. Early Access for PC/Windows is being offered at a 33% discount until November 25, 2015.

Patch details are available here and here.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
