For years, Funcom has been occupied with MMOs such as Age of Conan and The Secret World. The developer is now working on its first single-player game since 2006’s Dreamfall with The Park, a horror game set in an amusement park that hides a dark and sinister secret.

Lorraine (the player), a mother who takes her son Callum to this particular amusement  park, descends into the worst nightmare of her life when Callum goes missing.

After night falls and the lights are extinguished, you’ll be in the midst of a short, intense horror story. The Park hides a nasty secret that’s waiting to be discovered.

Funcom CEO Rui Casais: It has been very exciting and creatively energizing for us working on a single-player experience again.”The Park” is actually the outcome of what started with a small group of developers experimenting with new concepts and looking at how we could draw upon the universes we have built for our massively multiplayer online games and expand upon them into smaller-scale single-player games. Something special started to take shape, and “The Park” ultimately became something we are eager to share with the rest of the world.

Funcom promises to release more info closer to launch. The Park  is coming our way this October on PC/Windows.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
