In Tsioque, which is the name of the player-character as well as the game, you’ll have to escape the clutches of an Evil Wizard and discover the secrets hidden within the spellbound castle of your ancestors.
Hang on. A protagonist should be able to pronounce his or her own name, don’t you think? Okay, here: it’s /ʧɪɒk/ or /tsɪɒk/. Hmmm. Maybe your luck will be better than mine.
In Tsioque, you’ll embark on an adventure full of darkness, suspense and humor, and experience a story with a twist in a living, breathing environment full of hidden interactions.
The game has lots of 2D animation, all done by hand, frame-by-frame. Okay, so it’s not 3D. But there’s no pretentious pseudo-retro pixel art either. According to OhNoo: “We love the classics, our nostalgia for pixels is as strong as the next guy’s, but we are not taking cheap shortcuts or purposefully limiting ourselves. We are using the available resources and technology the best we can.”
Tsioque isn’t just for children. It tells a multi-layered story created for players of all ages.
It is, however, possible to die in Tsioque. Further, you may not always have a lot of time in which to solve a puzzle, and choosing a proper course of action might require extra thought lest you make an unfortunate decision.
And here, as far as I’m concerned, is one of the very best aspects of Tsioque: it’s not episodic. Oh yes! You’ll get the whole thing all at once. Bless you, OhNoo.
If you’d like to see more of the game, download the playable demo (see links at top of page). If you like what you see, please consider backing the game on Kickstarter.
Tsioque is to be released in 2016 for PC/Windows and Mac.
