Note: This game is not to be confused with At the Mountains of Madness, currently in development by Team Clockworks which, while based on the same story, apparently takes place at an earlier time in Lovecraft’s Eldritch Space-Time Continuum.

Inspired by HP Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness, here is the recipe for Zoetrope’s upcoming game:

(1) University expedition ventures into the vaporous, honeycombed Mountains of Madness;
(2) Members of expedition fail to warn anyone about what lurks there;
(3) Another expedition follows;
(4) Horrible snowstorms arrive and cut off all communication to/from expedition for six months;
(5) Rescue operation in which the player participates ventures forth and finds…well, you’ll have to play the game.

 “…only very few mind passed the conventional boundaries of human cognition further into the realms of unification of the minds, collective plane of existence where classical understanding of things fall apart; a place like a house of mirrors that reflection of the self goes in all direction without any hindrance of ordinary laws of physics. Tangible mass of the mind weighs lighter and lighter until one leaves the physical bounds of the flesh; mind-body dualism becomes explicit. Therefore, from some strange manifold angles -not even a single soul has ever comprehend- shadows of the past and future could crawl to and fro, changing into shapes that ordinary human eye fail to see for they contain information goes beyond the third dimension…”
-Excerpt from the book Time Bore

No release date has yet been announced. Zoetrope will likely provide more info as development progresses.

Yog-Sothoth Neblod Zin, y’all.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
