Having reviewed OhNoo’s last game, the excellent Tormentum, I’m very happy to discover the studio is working on a new adventure: Tsioque.
Players will take the part of Tsioque, a little warrior princess imprisoned by an evil wizard. Tsioque has spunk: she’s brave and stubborn; but also has a knack for causing unintended chaos and destruction.
As Tsioque, you’ll be escaping captivity and discovering secrets hidden in a mysterious castle. But this is no ordinary mysterious castle. It’s not only home to demons and magical creatures; it’s capable of bending and shapeshifting. It can transform itself with multiple layers of illusion. This figures exensively in the game’s plot.
Alek Wasilewski: “And if you think it’s just about a girl in a castle – well, you’re in for a surprise.” He adds that we may expect many surprising twists and turns in the game.
Tsioque has been inspired by classics such as Day of the Tentacle, Dragon’s Lair and Ron Gilbert’s Pajama Sam series. It’s being created using frame-by-frame animation; each second of gameplay requires multiple, hand-drawn frames.
From the press release: “By combining the hand-drawn 2d animation and a music system designed to dynamically follow the player’s actions, the developers hope to create a unique experience [merging boundaries] between adventure game and animated film.”
OhNoo is looking to raise $35,000 on Kickstarter, most of which will be used for creating the labor-intensive frame-by-frame animation. Tsioque will be released in 2016 on Windows and Mac. Your backing would be most appreciated. And don’t forget Greenlight!
