An ingonga is a cauldron made of iron that’s often adorned with skulls, branches, candles, and all sorts of symbols and signs. It’s wrapped in chains and seemingly filled with all manner of bones, flesh, rot and decay. In Vodoun, it is used to entrap and contain ancient, terrible things. In Ingonga, it has been opened…
Ingonga is about exploration and immersion in unfamiliar environments: blighted, rotting swamps; an old decrepit mansion in the bayou and ancient, crumbling catacombs. Your means of defense are limited. Hiding and running are your best tools.
You’ll find creatures from The Vodoun and Yoruba cultures such as: The Asasabonsam, a vampire creature from West Africa that has sickle-like feet and hangs from trees, grabbing its victims and gnawing on them with iron teeth; The Boo Hag, a mythical creature from Gullah folklore that steals skin from children to wear in the night; and The Loa, spirits of Haitian Vodou, intermediaries between Bondye — the Creator — and humanity.
The game is looking to raise $65,000 by November 30, 2014. Although it appears as though funding won’t be met this time, fans of survival horror should do themselves a favor and have a look at the Kickstarter page. Ingonga is also on Steam Greenlight.
To quote Rhett Chassereau (former Call of Duty Associate Producer, who worked on the franchise for many years) of Hey Kiddo!: Regardless of how the Kickstarter goes, we’ll keep working on the game – one way or another, I want everyone to see it and play it. You can’t ask for more than that.
I know Hey Kiddo! would greatly appreciate your support. And really: how can you say “no” to a Boo Hag?
