The Longest Journey…Home?
Speculation abounds over a direct sequel to TLJ that will continue and conclude the journey of April Ryan
Okay, deep breath…
Initially, The Lougest Journey Home was attached to the Dreamfall Chapters Kickstarter campaign. It was a stretch goal. A two million dollar one.
Alas, the campaign fell short at $1,538,425.00. However, Red Thread has stated this:
To be able to greenlight the preproduction of the continuation and conclusion to April Ryan’s journey would, of course, be a dream come true for all of us.
But even if we don’t reach that lofty goal this time around, we hope to someday still be able to tell this story. April’s story, all of it. All that remains of it.
Because it needs to be told. And you all deserve to hear it. And we would love to share it with you.
The Longest Journey Home would be game number four in The Longest Journey saga. Hmmm…are our chains being yanked? Well, at least it’s not April Fool’s Day (pun intended).
Rumor has it that the game will cover April’s experiences in the 10-year period between TLJ and Dreamfall.
A little birdie — it might have been Crow — told me that Sarah Hamilton will appear in Dreamfall Chapters in a role that’s “yet to be revealed.” So April may or may not be a character in Dreamfall Chapters. Why don’t you just torture us, Red Thread?
Sarah Hamilton: I love this woman…
If TLJH pans out, Sarah had better be April. She’d just better be. And please, Red Thread, don’t mess around with April’s appearance and leave us with someone we can barely recognize. I mean it.
So now, I guess we’ll be spending more time in Wait-and-See Land, much as we’ve done for Dreamfall Chapters for the past eight years…
But if you’re anything like me, you’ll be keeping the faith (yes, pun intended) that someday, somehow, there will be closure for April…and for us.
Hey, Red Thread, here’s an obvious suggestion: do a Kickstarter campaign for TLJH, then make the game. Please.
