With six days left in Subject 13‘s Kickstarter campaign, Paul Cuisset and Microïds have announced today that Linux fans have been heard, and that a Linux version of the game will be added alongside PC, Mac, and mobile platforms if the game’s basic Kickstarter goal of $40,000 is met. Additional platforms such as Oculus Rift are waiting to be added if stretch goals are met.

In Subject 13, players will take on the role of Franklin Fargo, a physics professor who has become a recluse after the tragic death of his fiancée. One morning, he wakes up in an abandoned underground scientific facility with no external contact other than a mysterious voice. The voice calls him “Subject 13.” Fargo’s goal is to not only set himself free but discover the true reasons for his imprisonment—can he escape from the prison of his past?

Subject 13 is full of secret caches and mechanisms that the player must discover, analyze and activate. The game’s difficulty gradually ramps up as the story unfolds, promising a game open to all virtual adventurers. If the first puzzles serve as an introduction most players can quickly solve, completing the entire adventure should be a real challenge even for the experts.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
