Grim Fandango To Be Resurrected; Watch an E3 Video Clip and Tim Shafer’s Retrospective
After 15 years, Double Fine and Player 2 Productions are teaming up to remaster Manny Calavera’s adventures in The Land of the Dead exclusively for PS4 and PS Vita
Grim Fandango Review (PC) – May 5, 2003
Fifteen years after the debut of Grim Fandango, adventure gamers will be able to revisit Tim Shafer’s neo-noir take on Mexican folklore. The original game is out-of-print, so there has been no official way for new players to get their hands on it. Until…
When Disney and LucasArts began licensing their properties to other developers last year, Double Fine reached out to arrange a deal that would allow them to resurrect Manny Calavera, travel agent to the recently deceased, and all the other skeletal inhabitants of The Land of the Dead. With the assistance of a team of passionate believers at Sony, that day has finally come. New audiences and dedicated fans alike will now have the opportunity to play the original classic, remastered for modern platforms.
As game archives are explored and original team members such as Tim Schafer (lead designer), Peter McConnell (composer), and Peter Chan (artist) are queried, important questions such as these are being answered: (1) What inspired this crazy universe? (2) Were tank controls actually genius? (3) Did Tim only own that one red shirt in the 90s?
So get hyped for the chance to relive one of gaming’s most critically-acclaimed dark comedies from the golden age of point-and-click, now coming to PS4 and PS Vita.
