Sticks & Starships: Genesis Makes Its Debut
Indie Developer Aloft Studios gives us a first look at its upcoming sci-fi fantasy title
Sticks & Starships: Genesis Theatrical Trailer, Screens and Info – April 9, 2014
In Sticks & Starships: Genesis, a voxel-based sci-fi fantasy for PC and Mac, players will advance from a primitive tribal culture to industrialization to a galactic empire. The game is to be both single-player and multi-player.
Explore a randomly-generated home planet, learn masonry, mill-work, metallurgy and alchemy. Collect resources, refine products and build increasingly sophisticated structures.
Solve problems using scientific reasoning. Build such complex systems as nuclear reactors and interplanetary rockets.
Aloft Studios seeks to improve the procedural-world, voxel-based game model by refining a proven formula of modularity and emergent gameplay and adding the empirical “tinkering” element present in today’s engineering games.
Aloft is also sharing a draft of its Kickstarter page, which is not yet live, to ask for your feedback. “What do you like? What could be better? Anything missing?” You can also request notification when the campaign is launched.
The game’s first demo should be ready for release around June or July of this year. It will feature generations, player navigation and world interaction, and some HUD.
