The Meridian Shard is a nostalgic, 2D, single-player, DRM-free, high fantasy adventure role-playing game that offers a refreshingly keen focus on story, characters, dialogue and player choice.

In the Hydra Ranges above the Ashen Plains, carved into the mountainside of a dangerous and forbidden stone valley called the Iron Plateau, an ancient temple shelters the realm’s most masterful healers: a mysterious and reclusive clan of white witches known as Dularian.

When the corpses of 49 soldiers and workers are discovered at a remote army-secured mining encampment, with no obvious causes of death, fears are sparked that a plague could be starting its course and seeking new hosts.

A talented young warlock and mercenary recruit is then dispatched with the task of delivering a royal scroll to the legendary Dularian healers, who may be able to help. He soon discovers that all is not as it seems; his straightforward mission instead leads him on a perilous quest toward a painful truth that will test his heart and soul beyond all measure.

The Meridian Shard will offer a variety of choices in responses and actions, which can affect the direct outcome of certain situations as well as alter the actual ending of the story.

The game will be released on PC within the next year. A Kickstarter campaign is in progress until February 16, 2014.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
