Konami Releases Five-Minute Developer Diary for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

See what it’s like to work with Dracula

Written by on

Dave Cox, the game’s producer and Studio Head of European Production for Konami Digital Entertainment along with Enric Alvarez, Head of Development at MercurySteam, discuss the return of Dracula in the conclusion to the Lords of Shadow saga.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 expands on the acclaimed epic with a new storyline, villains and visuals. It also boasts a wealth of key additions that will provide a more open world and immersive experience.

Players will assume the role of a more nuanced, “human” Dracula — a character similar to the Count as portrayed in the Francis Ford Coppola motion picture. Dave and Enric address the decision to use Dracula as the game’s central figure, discuss the design choices they faced, the way they treated the character’s look and feel, and the impact he will have on the story.

Fans of the game are encouraged to submit questions via social media to be covered in future videos.

The game will be released for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® and Windows PC in the UK on February 28, 2014.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
