Paris, 1960: Europe is in the grip of the gentleman master thief The Raven. His burglaries are spectacular and he always emerges unscathed. Young hotshot investigator Nicolas Legrand stuns the public when he confronts the master thief and fatally wounds him.

London, 1964: An ancient ruby – one of the legendary “Eyes of the Sphinx” – is stolen from the British Museum. At the crime scene: a raven feather. Is somebody trying to follow in the Ravens footsteps? Legrand is back on the case.

At the same time, a phone rings in Zurich. Constable Anton Jakob Zellner looks up from behind a mountain of files. He has no idea what lies hidden in a bank vault, just a few hundred meters away from him. As he reaches for the receiver his life takes a crucial turn…

Characters

Constable Zellner Constable Anton Jakob Zellner is a good policeman. At least that’s what he thinks. His superiors, however, think he’s a troublemaker and have buried him under a mountain of paperwork. He sharpens his wit by reading crime novels and dreams of solving the big cases.

Now his dream might become reality – if he emerges victorious from the deadly game of cat-and-mouse he has gotten himself into.

Inspector Nicolas Legrand had a dream career in the last four years. After he was able to chase down and lethally wound the Raven in Paris, he has become the most famous investigator at Interpol and an international celebrity.

But did he really catch the right guy? A doubt still lurks in his mind and when new burglaries bearing the hallmarks of the Raven occur, he takes up the chase.

The Raven: there is no thief more shrouded in mystery. In the ’50s no bank vault, no museum and no gallery was safe from him. He led police of a dozen countries around by the nose and his clever break-ins amused the public. He became one of the first stars in the media of the post-war era.

Four years ago the Raven was shot … but it seems that he has returned.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
