June 13, 2013 – This is an indie game developed by Sarah Crossman, Team Leader and Game designer at Wales Interactive, she wanted to convey a new vision and narrative of life after death through the medium of computer games and so Master Reboot has been created. Released on Steam Greenlight on the 12th of June 2013 she hopes the Greenlight community will embrace her idea and the minimalist art style to bring the world of Master Reboot to everyone on Steam and beyond.

An Introduction to Master Reboot
Imagine a world where death is no longer final, where precious memories are saved to enjoy forever, where your soul is immortal, welcome to the Soul Cloud. Upload your soul to our dedicated servers and relax knowing that a part of you will live on, for eternity. That favorite holiday, happy moments from your childhood, meeting that special someone for the first time. All these memories saved for your digital soul and your family to revisit again and again.

The Soul Cloud – saving your past to secure your future.

Master Reboot is a first person psychological puzzle adventure game set inside the Soul Cloud. In the not too distant future they have created the Soul Cloud, a giant server that holds the data of your soul and memories when you die. The Soul Cloud is filled with floating islands, each island looks like a town; village or city filled with rooms, skyscrapers and houses that hold people’s memories. To house your Soul, a family member (or yourself before you die) purchases an island on the Soul Cloud where the server will generate rooms, houses or skyscrapers that hold each and every memory from the deceased’s past, or of memories of their choosing.

Gameplay
When you begin the game your identity is unknown, you are simply a digital representation of who you once were when you were alive transferred into an endless network of peoples memories called the Soul Cloud. Beginning your transfer into your new digital existence is simple, you sit on a monorail transporting you to your new home, a place where you can live out all your favorite memories for all time. But something is different, a feeling of anxiety comes over you and something happens causing you to black out. Waking up on a deserted beach without any knowledge of who you are or where you are, you bring yourself to your feet. Looking around you, everything you used to know has seemingly been wiped from your memory. Why did this happen? Did someone do this on purpose and was it meant for you or someone else?

It’s up to you to piece your memories together to find out all these answers by solving the puzzles in each memory from your past that are housed in there own rooms. However this wont be an easy task as not only are these puzzles very difficult but you are pursued by the Soul Clouds anti virus believing you are the cause of all these ‘problems’ in the network. Every puzzle solved unlocks a memory which reveals more about your life when you were alive, a walk on a beach, visiting loved ones now lost from your life and confronting demons who have manipulated your career and very existence. Once you have pieced together all your memories the games narrative and game play will lead you to a dramatic climax which brings the answers you are looking for but also questions the very nature of life and your creations coming back to haunt you.

Game Features
An intriguing storyline taking the player on a journey through the mysterious world of the soul cloud, where the secretes of its creation and who are you are revealed. Using elements of physiological horror, Master Reboot will not only present a new vision of life after death but also bring fear and distributing imagery into its digital world.

Explore a beautiful and stylistic game world taking inspiration from day of the tentacle, mixing mystery and intrigue through the narrative and conveying it through a minimalist visual aesthetic.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
