THE 2003 E3 JUST ADVENTURE AWARDS! Presented |
Developer: Cyan Worlds
Publisher: UbiSoft
Platform: Windows
Projected Release Date: Fall 2003
If the
adventure genre is too survive, then it must be bold and step forward
and I predict that Uru: Ages Beyond Myst will be the first
game to finally entice adventure gamers into the world of online gaming.
Rand Miller, who, along with his brother Robin, created the original
Myst universe, informed me that he had been working on Uru
since the completion of Riven more than five years ago.
And his time was well spent as Uru: Ages Beyond Myst will reinvent
online gaming.
Uru is, at its core, a single-player game that allows the player to create
his/her own character and then explore the real-time 3D world of Dni
at a leisurely pace. Once the puzzles and epic storyline have been
thoroughly explored the player then has the choice to either continue
to play solitary or to join the online world of Uru Live.
It is then that Uru takes on a life of its own as the lost
civilization of Dni offers an ever-expanding world featuring new
ages and storylines to be downloaded.
Much like
Chameleon: Mysterious Journey 2, this game is visually stunning.
Its lush graphics seductively invite you to lose yourself for endless
hours in a world of fantasy. And if Uru is not enough to satisfy
your cravings, well, we understand that there is yet another, unannounced,
Myst game in development! As for now Ill be satisfied with
Uru: Ages Beyond Myst, the first online game I have ever looked
forward to playing.
