The 10 Scariest Adventure
Games of All Time

by Randy Sluganski

Downfall3. DOWNFALL

The only game on this list yet to be reviewed (though that will soon change), Downfall is the masterful creation of one person, Polish born Michal Michalski.

Created with Chris Jones’ AGS engine, Downfall features hand-drawn background art with a washed-out look that just screams creepy. Currently working as a male nurse in Exeter, England, Michal wrote Downfall while working as a nighttime care assistant in a mental health institution while his patients were sleeping.

The main thrust of the story is of a husband and his ill wife who decide to spend the night in a small-town hotel in order to escape the driving storm. Upon awakening the next morning, the wife is missing from her bed and the husband begins a search that will take him, and you, to places you will have wished you had never visited.

Downfall is not for the squeamish as it is chock full of gore, violence, four-letter words and nudity. It is also the most riveting, most disturbing game I have ever played.

You can learn more about Downfall and also purchase the game at its official site.
