Developer’s
Café Chat with Steve Ince
Tuesday, June
1st & Wednesday
June 2nd 2004
This week…
The Developer’s Café will be hosting a Q & A with
Steve Ince, Broken Sword series Producer, Designer and writer. Steve
has recently made the leap into independence from his long-term position
at Revolution Software. He has generously offered to sit down at
the GB Developer’s Café and talk about his insight/experience
into adventure game creation and his past projects with Revolution.
This will present a unique
opportunity to delve deeper into some of adventure gaming’s
most highly rated titles; including the Broken Sword series, In
Cold Blood and Beneath A Steel Sky.
You will also have the
unique opportunity to pick the brain of an industry veteran about
anything and everything you want to
know about
the inside world of Game Development. So for these special
two days, Steve will be all ours.
So what’s the back-story and future plans of our latest guest?
Well let’s hear from Steve himself….
“
I am thrilled at the prospect of expanding my creativity into new
and exciting areas,” he said. “The industry has more potential
than at any other time to give its customers ever more rewarding
experiences. I intend to take a big part in providing that. The importance
of good writing in games is slowly being recognised and the intersection
of writing and design will lead to groundbreaking new developments.”
An 11-year industry veteran,
Ince’s dedication to the cause
of providing quality games bore fruit with his nomination for Excellence
in Writing at this year’s Game Developers Choice Awards. This
followed on from the three nominations that Broken Sword – The
Sleeping Dragon received at this year’s BAFTA ceremony for
Best Design, Best PC Game and Best Adventure.
Never content with sitting
on his laurels, Ince has continued his life-long love of art and
comic strips and his first book,
Crescent
and Claw, has just been published, demonstrating the broad
perspective he brings to any project.

The Developer’s Café is a nice quiet spot to wile away
an afternoon or even just hang out for the whole day. Be sure to
reserve a seat early. This place fills up fast. Q & A posted
hours do not limit when you can post and are merely scheduled times
when the hosted guest will be actively at the forums answering questions.
So post away and as often as you like.
and remember …
no shoes – no
shirt – no service!
that’s right,
We run a class joint at GB.
