ADVENTURE – THE GENRE THAT DOES SELL

2004 adventure sales figures. These are cumulative figures for Jan/Feb
of 2004. You may, if you have an inclination
to do so, add these numbers to the 2003
year-end figures
we posted
last month
to get a better overall picture.

The usual disclaimers
apply – figures are tabulated by PC Data and do not include online
sales or sales from some brick-and-mortar
outlets
like Electronics Boutique that do not subscribe to the service.
While these figures are an excellent barometer by which to gauge
adventure
sales, please keep in mind that they probably only comprise 60 – 70%
of actual sales.

Also, take note of the
sales figures for the jewel case re-release of Sanitarium,
not too shabby for a game originally released in 1998.

JC stands for jewel case
and is a game that is sold at a reduced cost without a box. Most
jewel case games sell for $10 or less
and are readily available in outlets like Wal-Mart, Best Buy,
Comp USA
and other large chain stores.
