QUESTONS FOR JACK THE RIPPER

Interview
Conducted by Randy Sluganski

After
interviewing such beauties as Nico
, Kate
Walker
, & Nancy
Drew
, it was, to say the least, disconcerting to be
sitting directly across from the infamous Jack the Ripper.

Now
the star of his own game from The
Adventure Company
, Jack (or Mr. Ripper as he likes to be called)
agreed to this exclusive interview on the condition he remain anonymous.

Most
fascinating of all though was that regardless of the light in the
room, his face always seemed to be shrouded in shadow
.

  • Your gruesome deeds have been immortalized in innumerable books,
movies and now a computer game. What is it about you that your
reputation remains as strong today as it was 115 years ago?

Randy,
during my bright years, I spent a lot of time and imagination writing
letters and sending “special” parcels to the police and to newspapers…
I worked quite hard to promote myself… and I’m quite proud of the
result ! Nonetheless, my biggest satisfaction is remaining un-captured
– though the police are so dumb these days that it’s not all that
amazing…

  • Your name has never been revealed. Are you happy remaining anonymous
or is the discovery of your true identity a cat-and-mouse game
    you enjoy carrying into perpetuity?

Anonymous…
are you kidding? “Jack the Ripper” name is known all around the
world – by the way, I hope you appreciate my delicious nickname,
I chose it myself. You know, some say there are more books about
me, than about Abraham Lincoln.

  • American author Patricia Cromwell in her best-selling ‘Portrait
of a Killer: Jack the Ripper Case Closed,’ used modern forensic
technology to deduce that you are actually renowned London artist
Walter Sickert (1860 – 1942). Is there any validity to her claim?

Jack the RipperFascinating
isn’t it? Patricia has done quite a good and completed a deep investigation.
She is much more clever and her methods are much more cutting edge
than investigators of my time. Fortunately, in their time, they
destroyed or lost absolutely every important clue and I’m quite
sure that the question of my identity is not close to solved!!!!

  • Since the height of your popularity, you’ve been overshadowed
by figures like Jeffery Dahmer and Hannibal Lecter. How do you
    – the granddaddy of serial killers – feel about these new media
    darlings?

They
got caught – not me. My silhouette is instantly recognized – not
theirs. Pale copycats… let ‘em have their 15 minutes of fame, and
see who’s legacy will stand the test of time…

  • Your new game – published by The Adventure Company – is set in
New York City during the early 1900’s. What were you doing in
the 13-year period between your disappearance from London and
your reappearance in New York City?

Well,
if you’re fond of newspaper clippings, maybe one of these days I’ll
let you have a look at my collection. These 13 years were very…
hum… busy! You’d love it!

  • Have you spotted any noticeable differences between the ‘ladies
of the night’ of London and those of New York?

Lots
of ‘em came from the same places: Ireland and Scotland. Not very
exotic for my tastes!

  • Are you familiar with modern theories that link your murders to
a sexual dysfunction and if so how do you feel about these explanations?

Typical
20th Century rationality. All of this must have a reason
– how could you sleep if there was none ? Well, maybe you should
think about it another way : why are you so fascinated by my handiwork
?

  • What’s next for Jack the Ripper? You’ve been immortalized on screen
& stage, in books and pc games. Isn’t it time to put the Ripper
    legend to rest?

You
forget, I had never been interviewed by Just Adventure! Anyways,
I have plenty of things left to do…

  • Do you feel at all responsible for modern society’s fascination
with serial killers or were you just a victim of your times?

Yaar’
I rip’d thoz ladyz coz I play’d too many video gamez ! Grand Theft
Stagecoach rulez ! You see Randy; I’m studying today’s language.
In case I have to “post” some new “letters”…

  • How do you like your liver? With or without onions?

Actually,
here’s my favorite recipe: take a plate with some flour, douse each
side of your liver quickly, cook it rare, and serve with freshly
ground garlic and parsley. May I invite you to share my dinner?
I guarantee fresh cut …
