Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys
The unaltered guide: no contents list, no checkboxes, no page breaks. This is what the archive holds. Back to the reading view
Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys is the thirty-fourth game in the series and the first built in a new engine, with free first-person movement as an option. Nancy is in Prague to help Adela Cerna recover a stolen family necklace, and the case runs straight into the legend of the seven keys that guard the Bohemian crown jewels. This walkthrough follows Amateur Sleuth, gives the Master Sleuth variants at the end, and covers the three Easter eggs, the postcards, the card deck and every Steam achievement.
How the game plays
Choose classic point-and-click or WASD free movement in Settings, and a difficulty. The icon top left opens the menu. Tab opens the phone’s task list (tick tasks in the right half to move them to Completed); J opens the case notebook with dossiers that update as you learn. Left click moves and acts, hold right click to look around, hold left to rotate an item; take an item then click the inventory icon to store it. Saves are manual, Latin names only, in AppData\LocalLow\HeR Interactive\MysteryOfTheSevenKeys\Saves. Steam achievements match the in-game ones.
Day one
The Hungry Artist cafe
Read the letter and arrive in Prague. Two women both claim to be Adela Cerna; settle it with a question to Patricie, the owner. New task: things to write to Ned. Read the newspaper on the counter, take a postcard from the rack (on its back a message from Sonny Joon with his coffee order, needed for an Easter egg), the pen from the right of the counter. The Wi-Fi password is under the QR code by the door. Double-click the postcard, select the pen, sign it. Outside, two texts; call Dad (voicemail); tap the unknown number: a riddle in three parts, love, history, travel, to be solved on the bookshelves. Talk to Patricie; in section 15, Alchemy, by the potted plant, take the active alchemy book and read it. Sit at the round corner table with Adela, take her suspect list, ask everything. Shelves: a card (1/10) in Mysteries (the full deck is the Full Deck achievement); read Tales, Traditions and Legends in History; History is 6, Romance 11, Travel 9; in the phone open the unknown file and enter 1169. A map with numbers and a compass appears: it points at the corner bookcase (far left with your back to the door); take the only interactive book, locked with a code. Turn the map so its compass matches the cover; numbers outside the cafe walls belong to the outer ring, inside to the inner: 6 is NE, 4 E, 3 SW, 1 W, and each pair of outer numbers sums to the inner one between them (S2 + W1 = SW3). Outer ring clockwise 2-4-2-1, inner 6-6-3-3. Inside, a big iron key. Double-click the list: three tasks in any order. Click Hans’s surname for his website, accept and continue, scroll to the phone number, call Feiersinger and ask everything, including DEGAS; leave Dad a message about the Second Shine shop; Ned’s voicemail.
Coffee
Patricie wants her portafilter (right of the counter), its filter (by the plant) and her recipe book (counter right of Adela’s table). She teaches you. Cup on the machine, one-bean button, cup back (right click puts things down). Con Yelo: one coffee, two cold water from the jug, one caramel or requested syrup, Done. Latte: milk three times into the pitcher, pitcher on the machine, cup, two beans for a double, then draw the pattern by holding the left button and tracing, slowing on thick lines. Flat White: two beans, two hot milk (pitcher twice, foam), sugar on request, Done, pattern. Sweet Sunrise: two coffees, one cold milk straight from the carton, one vanilla, one sugar. Only foamed milk gets a pattern. Four cups earn a snow globe. Keep serving for the achievement: the “don’t burn me” order is one coffee, two cold water, sugar on top; hot water instead of cold means cup left, two-drop button; Caramel Mojito: double coffee, one milk foamed, caramel, pattern; Espresso: one coffee, one sugar; Americano: one coffee, three hot water; Noisette: double coffee, hot milk, hazelnut. Sonny’s recipe, one coffee, two sugars, hot milk, is the first Easter egg. Thirty coffees: Barista. Tap the last line of the suspect list to add Oskar Dvorak’s number, call him: meet at the castle exhibition.
Postcards on the squares
The notebook’s brown tab shows nine postcard views to match with the phone camera (C). Prague Castle square: the obelisk (1/9), the Old Royal Palace (2/9), the cathedral’s Golden Gate (3/9); note the fresco, a puzzle clue; a screwdriver on the crates; St George (4/9); the cathedral entrance opposite the marionette theatre (5/9); a card (2/10) on the round table; the small notice on the stand adds a Czech word. Through the gate left of the fountains to Old Town Square: the astronomical clock (6/9) and its table, a clue; the Jan Kriz house (7/9); the House at the Minute (8/9), another clue. Vladena Zlata’s jewellery shop by the fountains: talk, read the magazine note on Feiersinger (icon top right enlarges), read the picture on the wall, a clue. Exhibition hall: read the sandwich board about the night tour; talk to Oskar; Ned texts (needs the alchemy book); upstairs, the ninth photo (9/9): Tourist. Oskar stops you touching the artefact on the crate. The alchemy case’s old book notes Kepler’s three laws; the regalia panel; Oskar’s plan; the word on the crate goes in your Czech dictionary. Artefact: drag the round lever a full circle clockwise, slide the sun latch right, drag the lever a full ellipse; more clues are needed. Oskar: old tunnels under Prague, the artefact was Rudolf II’s, so R marks his clues. A card (3/10) on the Dalibor stand.
The laptop
Cafe: call Ned, then the Hardy Boys, who mention an agent who reads DEGAS files and suggest a laptop; Patricie points to the computer shop and asks you to take a coffee to the man Adela returned a card to: Leo Sokol, who invites you to his office at St Vitus. Old Town Square, Aparat Computers: left to Marek (the marionette poster’s word), show him the iron key; Elka gives a laptop without a charger and mentions Radek of the marionette theatre, who walks in and invites you to his show.
The puppet show
At the van, help Radek stage seven scenes: each part needs a puppet and a line, sometimes a prop. 1: Maria Theresa, no prop, her greeting as king; Scribe, no prop, the only woman elected; Maria Theresa with the scroll, crowning a woman was hard; Scribe with the scroll, you wore this crown. 2: Charles IV with the crown, it is mine; Maria Theresa, the cathedral builder; Charles with the crown, correct; Maria Theresa with the bridge, the Charles Bridge; Charles with the crown, and I had the crown made. 3: Scribe with scroll, so many deeds; Charles with crown, go on; Maria Theresa, now it belongs; Rudolf II with crown, to me; Maria Theresa, for what. 4: Rudolf with crown, the Renaissance; Scribe with scroll, but you wasted time; Rudolf with crown, Prague on the maps; Maria Theresa, what about the people; Rudolf with crown, the people?; Maria Theresa, is such a man worthy. 5: Scribe with scroll, rulers and wars; Maria Theresa, until the estates demanded the jewels back; Leopold II, no prop, they belong to the people; Maria Theresa, who are you. 6: Leopold with crown, your son, I brought them home; Keeper with keys, seven keys; Leopold with crown, given to appointed men. 7: Maria Theresa, they belong to the Czech people; Keeper with keys, here they are; Scribe with scroll, kept safe ever since. Watch the show and question Radek about the seven keys.
Exhibition: nobody downstairs; upstairs the corridor is open; eavesdrop on Oskar and Leo’s secretary. The Hardys text. Cafe: the charger on the far right table, plug it into the laptop’s side, mail icon, Wi-Fi password IBRIK1708, download the DEGAS file, open it: a sliding picture puzzle, interrupted by a hack. Elka lets you into the closed shop and takes laptop and phone; search her desk (the ledger on screen) and Marek’s: a second set of books that disagrees, his will in favour of his granddaughter, keys under the papers open the box in the drawer (Easter eggs and a seal). Elka reformatted; her ring is a stun ring; she teaches defence: two levels, 29 moves each, straight moves only, push barriers, collect every green tile. Level 1: up, left, up, right, up ×3, left, up, down, right ×3, up, right ×2, down, right, down ×2, left, down ×2, right, down, up, left ×2, down. Level 2: right, down, left, down ×2, left, down ×3, up ×2, right, down, right ×3, down, up, right, up, right, left, up, left, up ×2, right, up, right. Agent Zane Garrett calls about DEGAS transfer dates. A note is slipped to you; Ned and Adela call.
Day two
Theatre van: chisel on the toolbox, the new script “The True Story of the Rezidente” (Radek writes them all); the report listing ten marionettes and a payment from the computer shop. Ask Radek how many puppets he has; he is nervous. The lone Rudolf II puppet on the roped table: examine the hat, flip it, the crest on the shoe. Cafe: Patricie, ask Ned about the Rezidente. Exhibition: the jewellery-shop picture gives the order: Cain’s symbol, the sceptre; the infinity sign from the House at the Minute; the crest from the puppet’s shoe; the skeleton in a cage, the knight Dalibor. Turn the rings: sceptre, infinity, double-eagle crest, skeleton with cage, press the symbol below: three stones, one marked. Oskar forbids more. Jewellery shop: Vladena permits a crack at her safe and leaves. Carat gauge parts: the round table, by the white dummy stone, the pen cup on the next desk with assembly notes. Assemble it so the grey notches lock the moving parts. Note the sun and moon order over the safe keypad and how they map to the desk sheet; lay the gauge on the papers so four numbers form an equation across its two metal parts; the line count beside each hole gives the digit (three lines by 4.5×3 gives 3): 5457, then the left handle. Take the certificate of authenticity; Vladena, surprised, lets you keep it. Oskar: Vladena wants the appraiser post because her ancestors appraised the regalia. Cafe: charger, laptop, mail, re-download DEGAS, solve the new picture puzzle, page twice to Vladena’s file and match eight details left to right: green lines for matches, one red, the appraisal date. Vladena admits altering the online DEGAS file. The Hardys text; call Zane: someone plans to steal the crown jewels, the cathedral’s dean may be in danger.
Leo’s office
Exhibition, upstairs, corridor: a card (4/10) under the window flowerpot. Secretary’s office: the note adds his number; step back to the door to get behind the desk; a card (5/10) in the card holder; letter opener on the envelope: cat-care instructions for Mariash; PC on, keyboard: Czech weekdays for the dictionary. Leo’s office: the door slams; Oskar argues with the secretary; card (6/10) in the coffee-table book; behind the desk move the plant for a sheet of notes; open the folder, put its pen in the empty stand slot: the top drawer opens, read the calendar; the desk phone’s messages. The wall puzzle: the scratched hints left and right pair an object with an object-in-shape below it; swap tiles so, top to bottom, left to right: green square hammer, blue square cross; green octagon hammer, purple square sword, purple triangle sword, purple octagon sword; yellow octagon crown, yellow triangle crown, blue octagon cross, yellow square crown; blue triangle cross, green triangle hammer. The bookcase slides. Pet Mariash (1/10) by the desk. The tunnel: a deadly thing follows (failure uses your Second Chance). From the entrance right; the corridor bends left; right at the next fork; left twice with the corridor; right at the fork; the corridor bends right; left at the fork; right at the first fork, left at the second, right at the third; the exit. Call the police about Leo and his Rome flight.

Her mother’s stones are as old as the regalia’s; ask about the royal alchemist. Patricie, then Radek: Mariash (2/10) on the round bench by the statue on the way; Radek sends you to Marek. Mariash (3/10) by the van at the House at the Minute. Elka, then Marek: an old chest he never opened. Turn it left, press the faint round button; right side, another; front: press 2, 1, 7, 4, 5, 6, 8, 3. Take the marionette, note the symbol on the bottom. Castle square, the room between the jewellery shop and the exhibition: Mariash (4/10) by a column. Question Oskar, click the sandwich board for the ghost tour, take the stones from the artefact (only after the chest), board again to leave. Marek’s: Mariash (5/10); chest: stones into the matching niches, then slide them to the drawn spots: the oval yellow-green stone right and down anticlockwise to the green triangle; the turquoise diamond left; the red square down once and left once anticlockwise (oval and blue move with it); the green triangle up; centre button. A key for the snow globe: flip the globe, unlock the base: “Secret teachings are kept by underground currents”. Tell Marek.
The tunnels and the alchemy lab
Castle square: Mariash (6/10) on a bench by the food stalls; the tunnel emergency exit stairs: Mariash (7/10). Down the ramp into the tunnels: forward, left, at the fork look right for the engraving of a bridge on the left wall; snow globe on the symbol bottom right: a light puzzle, right click the movable receivers to rotate, left click to place, so light from the top left reaches every square tile. A secret door opens right of the engraving; first fetch the card (7/10) on the stairs from Leo’s office, then globe again to reopen. Alchemy lab: for the second Easter egg set any three identical symbols in the cabinet’s three rings (the philosopher’s egg). The table opposite the door: a black stone with something inside; the book: drag the left page onto the right and right-click until it locks; from the X along the red line four zodiac signs, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Gemini; next page, their alchemical equivalents, and the jars’ triangles mark earth, fire, air; the table over the cabinet gives the operations. Mixing table: tube 3 (blue, moon) into the black dish; tube 5 (orange-red pellets); dish into the mortar (earth), grind to white powder, back to the dish; tube 7 (Virgo, distil) into the dish; everything into the burner (fire) on the right, back to the dish; tube 2 (Taurus, soak) into the dish (Nancy has a good feeling); all under the glass dome (air). The stone’s shell evaporates: a plate engraved phosphorus, steel, essence. Cabinet: inner ring twice clockwise, middle once anticlockwise, outer four times clockwise. Inside: a book in the drawer, and a coin under the coloured stones on the bottom shelf, marked with the symbol for copper. The entrance is shut; left, left, the corridor bends right, left, to a gate. Save. Beyond is a ghost: run along the right side and take the last opening on the left to a wooden ladder out. Adela calls and offers to translate the diary. Cafe: Mariash (8/10) under the old Nancy Drew posters; Adela texts to leave the diary behind Patricie’s bar: use the till, text Patricie. Talk to Radek.
Day three
Cafe: ask Patricie to distract Adela, sit by the window; search Adela’s bag: newspaper, cloth, receipt, cards from the cafe and Vladena’s shop, a Koko Kringle bar, and a box: arrange the cards into stones, spire, time. The necklace was never insured; examine the fake. Adela wanted to find the necklace’s original owner; she gives the translated diary and the copy necklace; three riddles. Patricie’s hints: the armour exhibit, candles, the clock model. Mariash (9/10) by the hydrant near the astronomical clock, then (10/10) in the exhibition hall: the third Easter egg, the Purr-er. A card (8/10) on the steps to Leo’s back entrance. Ghost tour: poster 3 says the locals called Perchta’s spirit the White Lady (quiz answer). The armour: make the moonlight line on it continuous: point 1 twice, 2 once, 3 once, 4 twice, 5 twice; open the visor for a diary page. Upstairs, the candle table by the secretary’s office: the copper symbol matches your coin; drop it in the slot; light the candles that spell CUPRUM (from the spirituality paper on Leo’s desk), each candle toggling four letters: 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 15, 20, 25, 28, 29, 30, in any order; take the drawings page. Cafe alcove, the clock model: Rudolf II was crowned 1 November 1575 (poster); the recipe book’s last page describes the Bohemian farmer in November; on the lower dial click the angel twice for the month and the man with the book six times for the day; a cylinder rises: rotate its drums to join the lines; then the upper dial: Ned’s hints; set the sun hand to the dial’s 12 (nine on a modern face), then drag the moon hand right smoothly until the clock strikes six; take the winding key, click the keyhole, both doors open and the last drawing is yours. Call Leo’s secretary, then Second Shine: listen to the voicemail in one language, call again for the other (Bilingual); the police say Leo checked in for Rome; Zane. Leaving, a black cloud rises from the tunnel exit: someone is following. Text Ned about a trap.
The trap
Straight from the cafe to the food stalls: the building site; take the screwdriver if you have not; the padlock: click when the slider is in the green, four times (count one, two on the right, click on three). Hammer from the niche table, cardboard boxes from the ground; up the ladder to the far scaffold, boxes on every marked spot; look down at the two bolts, hammer, a third ahead; the phone on the left. Cutscene; Radek and Marek; Marek’s dead daughter’s badge. In the shop, lay the gem-name slips on the matching key drawings; Marek adds a tracker: take the bag, leave it by the round bench at St George, return for the pager, back to the bag to activate the tracker, then follow the signal: the bench with the young couple, the cathedral steps, the gate, across Old Town Square to the couple under the lamp; after three comments the tunnel door is active; push it. In the tunnels follow the signal, keeping left, to the secret lab door; snow globe in the symbol; save; enter: Vladena throws poison and flees. Pick up the fishy broken bottle, take the leaf from the dried herbs with the antidote recipe: bottle into the flask; tube 1 (copper) into the dish, tube 4 (gold), grind in the mortar, back to the dish, tube 2 (mercury), distil in the burner, tube 7, into the flask, drink. Through the half-open door: a card (9/10) under the red sleeping bag, Adela’s real stones from the laptop desk, the scroll’s words, the laptop connects to Elka and Marek; the far door.
The vault
Take the bag of Marek’s keys by the double door. Key 1 into keyhole 1 and turn to reveal the rest, then keys 2 to 7 by their descriptions; turn 1 again, then 4, 7, 5, 6, 3, 2: It’s locked! Elka appears; talk. The electrical box below the next door: first toggle twice, second once, fourth three times, fifth three times; then the lock. Level 1: up, right, up ×2, left, up ×2, right, down, right ×2, left ×2, up ×2, right ×3, down, right ×2, up, down, left ×2, down (blue cells teleport to the other blue cell; count from there). Elka’s stun ring comes off her hand as you slip through. Treasury: Leo stunned, Vladena with a dagger; accept her terms; set the stones in the crown, rotating with the right button, sapphires and rubies round the rim, the emerald in the slot on the arch by the cross; when the eye icon shows Vladena looking away, snap the ring into the empty slot inside the crown; tell her it is done. Leo wakes: a back way out. The last card (10/10) under a display stand’s foot: Full deck. Touch the candle sconces holding one, two, three, four and five candles in rising order (if you run out of time once, the timer no longer matters; if it still fails, start the sequence again). Through the passage, screwdriver on the grille’s lock, same timing trick. Give Radek the bag with necklace and stones for Marek. Cafe finale: the necklace with its stones out: place them on the front, flip it, rotate stones with left clicks to rebuild the pattern, swapping if needed: the true owner is revealed (Two in one), the last Czech word, grandmother (Like a local). Call Carson first (Like father like Nancy), answer the quiz (Trivia tamer), and if you never used hints, Legend of Prague. Zane’s message about Vladena closes the case.
