Sam & Max 304: Beyond the Alley of the Dolls (2010)

This is the fourth episode of the third Sam & Max season, Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse. After the events of the third episode, a horde of clones modelled after Sam swarms the city, and Sam and Max must uncover and defeat the evil mastermind behind it.

Max’s psychic powers play an important part again. He gains access to all powers from the previous episodes, plus cards that let him read a person’s mind and a robot to fight creatures from the dark dimension.

The gameplay is similar to the earlier seasons: the player walks through levels, collects items, and uses them to solve puzzles. Dialogues use a ring menu similar to Mass Effect, and Sam is moved by holding the left mouse button and dragging the mouse, or with the keyboard. Interactions with items or people are carried out with a single mouse button.

At initial release, single episodes were not available for purchase. Users had to buy the five episodes as a whole, released on a monthly basis.
