In 1988, Rush appeared with Gold! in one of the most comprehensive adventure games of the 1980s. The game has since been developed anew to modern standards, with high-resolution graphics, speech synthesis, a sound track, and modern user interface features.

The story takes place in 1849, when gold was discovered in California. You play as Jerrod Wilson and travel from New York to California during the Gold Rush.

The game includes three routes taken by thousands of people to the gold regions: overland across the Great Plains and mountain ranges, across the Isthmus of Panama, or around Cape Horn in South America. If you reach Sutter’s Fort, the adventure continues with more puzzles to solve before you achieve your goals in California.
