Werner Von Wallenrod, a farm boy, discovers that he is the orphaned son of Axel von Wallenrod, a Dragon Knight.

He sets out to uncover his past and reclaim his heritage. His goal is to earn the favor of enough of the current Dragon Knights to be voted into their order.

He also has to deal with his rival, Haggen Von Diakkonov.
