Mountains of Madness From Zoetrope Morphs Into Transcend – June 3, 2016
Zoetrope Interactive Looks to Scale Mountains of Madness – August 14, 2015
Publisher Iceberg Interactive has teamed up with development studio Zoetrope Interactive to bring us the new horror adventure title Conarium. (Note: This game started out as Mountains of Madness in 2015 and became Transcend in June 2016 before becoming Conarium.)
Conarium is inspired by Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness, but is primarily set after the original story. In the game, four scientists travel to Antarctica and attempt to challenge what are considered to be the absolute limits of human consciousness using a device called Conarium.
You are anthropologist Frank Gilman. Unfortunately (or fortunately, as the case may be), use of the device kills you. But you return in a subtly transformed state with strange memories of strange places, having lost something important and gained something sinister. You are also alone.
You’ll be exploring the expedition base, delving into dreams and visions, studying clues, unlocking secrets, experiencing alternate realities and avoiding ghastly beings.
Erik Schreuder. CEO, Iceberg Interactive: We here at Iceberg love a good horror game and Zoetrope always deliver. We are excited to see them working on a new Lovecraft-inspired franchise, as I am sure will be their huge fanbase.
Conarium is being created with Unreal 4 and will feature two difficulty levels. The game is currently slated for release in Q1 2017 for PC and consoles.
