Back in 1983, interactive Sorcery! gamebooks gave people a brand new way to experience a story. In 2014, indie developer inkle has tapped into the series’ true narrative potential by creating a digital version of the gamebooks.

Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! is a four-part fantasy adventure that greatly transcends what was possible in book form. With tens of thousands of choices, the story rewrites itself around your actions and will be uniquely different each time.

In Part 1, you are a young hero who has resolved to recover the powerful Crown of Kings. You embark on an epic quest, choosing a path to follow across the Shamutanti Hills. Explore a beautifully illustrated world filled with memorable encounters. Overcome vicious traps and traverse a dangerous countryside littered with moral tests that can make or break a hero.

The game features a unique sword-fighting system designed for touch devices; a choice between male or female heroes; an arsenal of almost 50 weird and wonderful magical spells and gameplay that calls for decision-making and strategy at every turn.

Battle weird and deadly creatures, cast powerful spells, play with honor, or lie, cheat and steal. The fate of the land of Kakhabad is in your hands

As an added bonus, the 3D map in the Android version has been improved over the original iOS version, so it’s now crystal clear even when fully zoomed in.

Part 1 of Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! for Android will debut March 12, 2014 on Google Play and the Amazon Appstore. Parts 1 and 2 are already available for iOS.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
