From the talented Christopher
M. Brendel – known for his critically
acclaimed Lifestream – comes Shady
Brook, featuring a plot worthy of the Jonathan Boakes,
the Stephen
King of adventure games:
“Amateur writer
Jake Tobin, in search of material for his latest novel, has moved
to the small, quaint town of Shady
Brook
with his blind father, Wayne.
At first, the town seems very welcoming. Jake’s new neighbor, Tim Richardson,
seems friendly, and the Ekan family a few doors down is always willing to lend
a helping hand.
But soon, mysterious things start happening in the town. One of
the residents commits suicide, and Jake suspects a cover-up. Could
this town take part in
a conspiracy to cover up a murder?
As Jake investigates,
he gets more than he bargained for: a town secret so terrifying
that there is no turning back…”
As you may have guessed from the above description, Shady
Brook – the
newest member of the Just
Adventure Independent Developers page – is a first-person,
horror adventure game with a supporting cast of creepy characters.
The developer is promising a horror game with graphic situations
suited to the subject matter, adult language and mature situations.
Shady Brook’s small town atmosphere
in some ways reminds me of Harvester, but without the accompanying
overblown hype that doomed that game before it was even released.
Michael B. Clarke – known
to Just Adventure readers for The
Arrangement and Harvest – is doing the 3D renderings for the game.
We’ll have more
on this intriguing game soon, but for now enjoy the accompanying
screenshots.
