Projected Release Date: Winter 2001
Through the ages, there have been many notorious lovers, Lotharios, and
gigolos. Errol Flynn is one from our recent past, and he may well have
modeled his life around that of Casanova, the hero of this game. Both
of them seem to have had seduction refined down to an art form, a cunning
mind, and an almost supernatural relationship with the blade.
The real Casanova was born in Venice on April 2, 1725. His full name
was Giancomo Girolamo Casanova. His parents were actors, though later
in his life, Giancomo will claim that his father was the Venetian nobleman,
Michael Grimani, whose family owned the theater where his parents were
employed. His parents were frequently absent, and the child was raised
by his grandmother. He was very sickly until he reached the age of eight
years and also suffered from chronic nosebleeds. Nothing romantic about
that. Casanova learned his first lessons about amour at some time between
his ninth and thirteenth year–he was clearly an early bloomer. He studied
law from 1738 to 1742.
And now to Casanova, the game. The Duel of the Black Rose is
another in the Cryo Legend series. It follows our hero through the city
of Venice as he searches for fame through duels and courtly love. It is
an adventure/action game developed with Cryo’s new engine, Cinergy, featuring
stunning real-time 3D character interaction on well-designed backgrounds.
As you play through the game you will find scenes of breathtaking action,
suspense, humor, and romance, superimposed into a glamorous canvas that
will contain 80 characters, 130 locations, real-time lights, shadows,
reflection, and weather management. You will have access to fencing school
where you will learn the graceful dance of the blade. You will jump through
windows, race across rooftops, escape from prison, hijack a pirate ship,
survive in a haunted cemetery, take over a well guarded fortress, and
fight a 100 enemies. And don’t forget the seduction part–you will do
that too.
Not many details are available yet, but we will keep you posted as we
learn more.
