The Red Queen of Oz: A Graphic Novel, a Game, a Kickstarter and a Kickathon

Something has gone wrong in the Land of Oz!

NEWS posted on 14 DEC 2012 12:00am by Karla

December 14, 2012 -  The Red Queen of Wonderland is searching for something and she will stop at nothing to get it.  After having terrorized and laid waste to Wonderland, she has now set her sights on a new target: Oz!

It's up to two young girls who know the lands and their people quite well to stop her!

There's Dorothy, a spunky young girl used to life on a farm who was whisked away to the Land of Oz once before, but who hasn't been back in years.

And Alice, a well-mannered and intelligent girl who navigated the curious and nonsensical Wonderland to find her way home.

Together with some old friends of theirs, the two must work together to stop the nefarious plans of the Red Queen!  It's up to them to liberate Oz from the Red Queen's tyranny, and restore Wonderland to its rightful state.

Based on the classic books “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll and “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum, “The Red Queen of Oz” is a graphic novel by Perpetual Games' own Bryan Wiegele and Simon Rosati.  This book was made possible by generous backers on KickStarter who pledged $18.087 to help fund the production of this book.

But there's more to “The Red Queen of Oz” than just the book!

From Perpetual Games comes a bigger, grander adventure through the lands of Oz and Wonderland:

The Red Queen of Oz: Two Fates

Help Dorothy and Alice on their adventure, going beyond the graphic novel and exploring more of Oz and Wonderland!  You can assist Alice with solving the many puzzles and curious obstacles that separate her and Dorothy from the Red Queen!  You can aid Dorothy in leading her and her friends in combat against the Red Queen's forces!  You decide whether to tackle the Red Queen Alice's way, or Dorothy's way!

This game will be comprised of navigation, inventory, and logic puzzles as well as turn-based combat.  Perpetual Games presents its exclusive “Play your way” system which gives players the option to play the game as an adventure game without engaging in the turn-based combat, as a role playing game focusing on the turn-based combat or any mixture of the two game styles!  This option for customization will let players indulge in their favorite aspects of the game all while maintaining the overall progression narrative and delivering a satisfying adventure!

But it's up to the public to determine whether this game gets made or not!

On December 10th, 2012, Perpetual Games kicked off the campaign to raise the development budget for “The Red Queen of Oz: Two Fates,” the third-person point-and-click adventure game offering players the unique “Play Your Way” option.  The campaign is currently live on Kickstarter and is running for 45 days until January 25th, 2013.  The funding goal is $40,000 to make the game possible, and in return, Perpetual Games is offering plenty of rewards for backers including copies of the upcoming graphic novel that was made possible thanks to KickStarter and the public!
