Greetings from Brawsome!
With 4 days to go and over 70% funded the Quest for Glory creator's Hero-U kickstarter is nearing the critical point in its funding lifecycle - the last minute push. Will it reach its goal or won't it? Signs point to yes, but it ain't funded till it's funded.
The project so far has had some pretty cool shout outs, with Ken Williams backing the project early on and posting in the comments. The usual suspects from the Sierra crew have also lent their support with the Two Guys from Andromeda, Al Lowe and Jane Jensen all calling on their respective backers to check out Hero-U; even Felicia Day retweeted one of Corey's tweet about Hero-U.
I've got to hand it to Corey and Lori, they've been engaging with the backers on the comments section of Hero-U every day since day one. I'm not sure when they sleep! They usually post updates around 2am. They've been hanging out in Google Hangouts with the fans fairly regularly too, I must say the whole thing has been a huge learning experience for them!
The site itself has also recieved a major overhaul since launching 26 days ago, with the descriptions, images and even video having been redone, after listening to comments from backers and on forums and reddit, both positive and negative. The new screenshots, which capture more closely what the game will ultimately look like, have picked up some really positive comments. The artists, who are traditionally in Sierra-style handpainted backgrounds, have rapidly learned to embrace tiled environments, with the goal being to make tiled environments not look like tiled environments.
This weekend is the final opportunity, will it get there or won't it? Maybe it's worth one final look to see if this spark will catch, or whether it's too late, or too early, to enter the halls of Hero-U.
