Sony Online Entertainment Games Receiving Holiday Treatment
Winter-themed events, activities and items being offered in 12-day event.
Players can now deck the halls and carol about as Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) announced today the upcoming 12 Days Event, which will run from December 13 to December 24, 2011. Holiday cheer and festivities can be found in daily in-game events with holiday-themed items and activities.
Players can look forward to being a part of the holiday experience in severeal online games such as DC Universe Online, EverQuest, EverQuest II, Free Realms, Pox Nora, Magic: The Gathering Tactics and Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures.
SOE will also be hosting a holiday charity drive to benefit Child's Play, a game industry charity that is dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in a world-wide network of hospitals. The drive is scheduled to run from now until December 31, 2011. Donations will be made by select marketplace items for in-game purchase. For each special purchase of said select marketplace item, SOE will donate $10 to Child's Play.
SOE plans to grace the above-mentioned games with holiday cheer by doing the following:
DC Universe Online - The villianous Larfleeze, angry at Santa Claus for not bringing him any gifts this year, has stolen holiday items throughout Gotham City and Metropolis. Players can support Child's Play by purchasing the Tall Top Hat, a great way to look dapper for the holidays.
EverQuest - Frostfell, the Norrathian holiday festival held in the season of Deepice, will be celebrated from December 14, 2011 to January 8, 2012. Santug Claugg has fallen in love with an alien species known as "braxi" and is determined to capture, tame and train them to pull his sleigh. Players can embark on this quest to capture braxi to bring to Santug this holiday. Players can support Child's Play by purchasing the Candy Cane Weapon Ornamentation, which will change the appearance of their weapon to that of a candy cane. Yum!
EverQuest II - Players can celebrate Frostfell during the season of Deepice by sharing food, gifts, and celebrate with friends and guildmates. Players can support Child's Play by purchasing the Child's Play Charity Pack, which contains both a house pet version of the Child's Play Cube, and a cosmetic pet spell for the same. The house pet version will randomly roll around the player's home, while the spell version summons a cube that follows them around in the world.
Free Realms - Snow Days are back for the third annual winter celebration, with the Gifting Tree coming into bloom to bring quests and holiday fever. Players can join these quests to collect presents and holiday-themed wearable costumes and items. Players can also join in on world events such as Snowball Fighting and the Snowman Showdown to earn more rewards. Players can support Child's Play Charity Drive by purchasing a festive unicorn donned in snowflakes.
Magic: The Gathering - Tactics - Players can get into the holiday season of giving by purchasing the Child's Play Pack, which is equipped with three Set 1 boosters and a new spell.
Pox Nora - Players can help support the Child's Play Charity Drive by purchasing Heritage Packs I, II, and III, which include legendaries such as Centaur Savage and Boghopper Blackhand.
Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures - Players can get into the festive mood with the special sage of Republic Defender known as Grievous Steals Life Day, which runs starting now until January 13, 2012. Player's can support SOE's Child's Play Charity Drive by purchasing the R2-KT Astromech Droid, a pink, purple, and white robotic friend designed to brighten your day and support a worthy cause!
