Criminal Investigation Agents - Petrodollars
Investigate the upper echelons of high finance on PC, Mac and iOS
Montreuil (France), July 12th 2012. French publisher Anuman Interactive has announced the release of “Criminal Investigation Agents - Petrodollars,” a new whodunit for PC, Mac and iOS. This interactive adventure game is marketed under the Microids – Games for All label.
On 5 June 2012, Anuman Interactive announced the release of “Deadly Association,” a hidden objects game that won a following thanks to its highly original plot which drew players deep into a criminal investigation. Anuman Interactive has now come up with a new offering where players seek out funds linked to dark deeds of murder, conflicts of interest, and tax fraud.
You take the part of Frances Keegan, an oil industry expert and special agent in the FTB, a branch of the US tax police. The investigation starts when the FTB’s surveillance unit spots suspicious movements of funds in the Gold Oil Company’s bank accounts and intercepts an encrypted email. To Frances’s great surprise, the Gold Oil Company appears to have ties to the wealthy financeer Klaus Fredricks whom Frances’s partner, Eric Ward, had been investigating when he mysteriously disappeared nine months earlier.
You progress through the game stage by stage as you find the hidden objects. For example, in a room you must look for the different items of clothing and accessories you need to disguise yourself and continue the investigation under cover. You must also win or solve a number of minigames (e.g. puzzles, sliding blocks, match 3, tap to shoot).
The objects and clues you gather during your investigation are automatically stored in an interactive inventory. You make use of them according to the situations you find yourself in during the game. Frances, for example, uses the torch to search a hotel room in pitch darkness. To accomplish your mission, you must be very attentive to detail and use the game’s special functionalities. For instance, you can look at a scene from different angles through the parallax. Objects that are hidden from sight are revealed when you tilt your device to one side or the other (for iPhone, iPad, tablets and mobiles operating under Androïd). On PCs and Macs, you can use your mouse to move about in different settings and search the decor.
The “Clue” function helps you get out of tricky predicaments. Although there are limits on the number of clues and the length of time you can use them, you can recover some if you find the mystery stars hidden in the game’s different scenes.
Finally, the main menu offers an option called “Extras,” which gives you access to minigames and puzzles you have already won and solved in the main plot. You can play them again whenever you wish.
The video game "Criminal Investigation Agents - Petrodollars" has been on sale since July 12th 2012 from the App Store and main download platforms in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
